Customer:
Toyota Motor Europe has its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Housing key activities for Toyota and Lexus in Europe, the Head Office acts as the nerve centre for all European operations including the principal areas of manufacturing and engineering, and marketing and sales activities. It supports a network of 31 National Marketing and Sales Companies (NMSC) for 56 countries.
Problem
Over the past decades the training programs for Toyota workshop technicians were built with the following key points in mind:
In the year 2000, TEAM21 was introduced as a new curriculum to ensure high efficiency in frequent service jobs, proper diagnosis of complex issues and knowledge about computerized vehicle control systems and new generation vehicles. The original training materials were centrally developed by the Toyota Motor Company in Japan. To enroll the TEAM21 curriculum successfully in Europe, it had to be localized for the European marked.
Challenge
The TEAM21 curriculum consists of almost 460 hours of training divided over four technician levels. It includes self-study and classroom training for which all materials had to be localized to the European necessities. Moreover, the self-study and assessment had to be integrated in a web application as e-learning. Not just as page turners but with interactive animations that improve training effectiveness. The complete curriculum had to be available in at least 21 European languages.
Solution
When Toyota Motor Europe asked TTA to help them with their challenges, it was immediately clear to us that this project was fully in line with our competencies and our expertise. TTA started off with the development of the classroom materials and supplied an innovative PowerPoint setup which included an integrated Instructor guide, this to ensure a high quality of training in each country. The interactive web animations for the self-study materials were developed in such a way that the integration of all languages would run smoothly.
Result
Supported by the Customer Service division of Toyota Motor Europe, TEAM21 is now successfully being enrolled in many European countries. In total 3.150 PowerPoint slides were developed by TTA for 43 training modules. Another 3.065 of web pages were developed and constructed by TTA for the self-study materials which are available in 21 languages through the internet. All European Toyota technicians have now the most modern type of training to their availability in order to service customer vehicles to the highest standards known today and tomorrow.
